Richard Thompson's Cul de Sac, is a comic strip about the life of a pre-school girl named Alice Otterloop. It is a light-hearted comic strip centered around a four-year old girl and her suburban life experiences on a cul-de-sac with her friends Beni and Dill, older brother Petey and her classmates at Blisshaven Academy pre-school. Alice describes her father's car as a "Honda-Tonka Cuisinart" and talks to the class guinea pig, Mr. Danders. She has the typical older brother who plays jokes on her, and she contemplates ways to keep the scary clown from jumping out of the jack-in-the-box with friends.

It is a relief to Petey that Beni can handle his little sister, Inez. But there is still far too much action for him; I fear Kevin’s sympathy does not offset Alice’s being Picnic Princess (which may have ramifications)….

I’m sure that more than the crown will go to Alice’s head.

I KNEW it was a girl. She looks a to more feminine in this strip (and ever so sweet – what a little peach)

I don’t know about the Asperger’s syndrome diagnosis. According to some people, Glenn Gould and Vladimir Nabokov had Asperger’s. They, like Petey, were talented, smart. and cautious, and they weren’t overly fond of other people. That’s not a medical condition. That’s just a realistic worldview.

For a realistic worldview see today’s “Pearls Before Swine.”

Any mentality that gives you trouble in dealing with society can be a mental disorder. Petey tries to avoid nearly everything. That’s no way to go thru life.

Sorry, can’t agree. That sounds too much like, “If you don’t conform, you’re sick.” I’ll take Emily Dickinson’s life over that of Donald Trump any day. Here’s Emily:
“Much Madness is divinest Sense -
To a discerning Eye -
Much Sense – the starkest Madness -
’Tis the Majority
In this, as all, prevail – Assent – and you are sane -
Demur – you’re straightway dangerous -
And handled with a Chain -”
