Oh Petey, the same safe surroundings is all you ask.

And I’m glad to see that Cartoon Camp will be back.

Is Petey having deja vu all over again—except for the same bee?

Oh, Petey! As much as you would like, you cannot dwell in the safely, reassuringly predictable past. Go boldly into the future! Cartoon camp is sure to be fun (at least for us out here)!

I hope this doesn’t mean we’ll have reruns from last year.

Petey doesn’t want to live in the past, he wants to live in an eternally unchanging present. You know, doing the same thing over and over and over (and over and over and over…). Sort of like, say, pushing the same boulder up the same mountain day after day after day (after day after day after day…).

(I figured I’d give you an example you could relate to, Sisyphos.)

I admit it, Brian. I rigged the balloting.

@Brian Ransom – I’m with you, I’ve been reading this strip[ for a couple of months now and it does little for me.

Comic art can be subjective.. That said though.. I’ve always felt Richard Thompson has some incredible ability to recreate a pretty realistic childhood experience but in a way that adults can find entertaining more so than kids would. If you’re looking for jokes, one liners and slapstick.. This isn’t particularly the strip for you. I came across this strip from Pearls Before Swine and though its pretty different, they’re probably my 2 favorite strips at this point. Just enjoy the ride.. Or stop reading :)

Most of us who read it regularly, LOVE Richard’s art – and many other cartoonists admire him as well.

This is my very favorite comic strip. Probably because I love kids and because I know childhood isn’t as easy as some forgetful adults seem to think. Richard captures the delight and angst of being a kid as well as the patient, loving efforts of the best Mom ever. The Reuben was well won, Richard! Keep up the great work.

To bee or not to bee!
Cul de Sac does a wonderful job of portraying children, adults and the idiosyncracies that make up every member of the population.
