Richard Thompson's Cul de Sac, is a comic strip about the life of a pre-school girl named Alice Otterloop. It is a light-hearted comic strip centered around a four-year old girl and her suburban life experiences on a cul-de-sac with her friends Beni and Dill, older brother Petey and her classmates at Blisshaven Academy pre-school. Alice describes her father's car as a "Honda-Tonka Cuisinart" and talks to the class guinea pig, Mr. Danders. She has the typical older brother who plays jokes on her, and she contemplates ways to keep the scary clown from jumping out of the jack-in-the-box with friends.

Right in the middle of an ice machine repairmen’s convention, too.

Welll at least they’re not staying in some “hole in the wall dive” of a hotel/motel like Petunia of NEUROTICA stayed at a few weeks back!

I wonder if the TV only gets locals. If it does, it could be a long rainy vacation.

“Why is it raining” – great question!

This was a CALVIN & HOBBES series some twenty years ago.

I’m betting that we’ll see a different series though than Calvin & Hobbes, Richard’s pretty creative.

It’s not a convention being welcomed on the sign, but the man asked to come and fix the machine.

DavidDow - If cartoonists had to insure they are not doing work reminiscent of previous cartoonists, there would be no new cartoonists.

Man, I need to get my glasses fixed. I thought the sign said “Welcome Ice Machine Fishermen”.

Looks like a place that Scully and Mulder would hole up in on a weird x-file case.

“Hole in the wall”?! Try the Sunshine Hotel in Jacksonville, Florida me and a friend went to a few years ago. That place is a dump!

As you will learn Alice, it’s raining because you are on vacation.
TheRedHatt said, 2 months ago
There must be 50 Sunshine Motels and they are dumps !

1) The sign says “Welcome Ice Machine Repairman”, not “Repairmen”, so it’s just that after two months, the right part must have finally come in to fix the hotel’s machine.
2) I hear you can get some excellent discount on rooms in Geek’s Neck during hurricane season.

I once stayed at “the place with the buggies.” They had horse-drawn carriages on display, but the other interpretation was highly probable!
