Richard Thompson's Cul de Sac, is a comic strip about the life of a pre-school girl named Alice Otterloop. It is a light-hearted comic strip centered around a four-year old girl and her suburban life experiences on a cul-de-sac with her friends Beni and Dill, older brother Petey and her classmates at Blisshaven Academy pre-school. Alice describes her father's car as a "Honda-Tonka Cuisinart" and talks to the class guinea pig, Mr. Danders. She has the typical older brother who plays jokes on her, and she contemplates ways to keep the scary clown from jumping out of the jack-in-the-box with friends.

I hate it when we have groceries for dinner.

I see Alice has a career opportunity as a grocery store checker in a few years.

As for Alice being a grocery store checker – she’s already expressed an interest in being a cart herder ‘cause they’d have free run of the cereal aisle!

Leave it to Alice to put in all into perspective.

I don’t see why Alice & Petey’s mom goes straight to the Manager in charge & file a complaint on that cashier, that would set ol “Grunty” straight!

bigg3469: When you have offended someone in a previous existence, it’s considered inappropriate to complain about them in the current existence (you may be unaware of this).

She’s jealous - she wanted Mr. Otterloop so now she just grunts at her rival. Typical cashier behavior…

Well Unshindi I work for a Grocery store & I know some of the “Rules & Regulations” on customer service (even know some of the rule might be different or varied in other grocery chains & stores) & a checker has to make “Eye Contact” with the customers at the check out stand no matter if they are long time shoppers or first timers either locals or from out of state or out of the country shopping for thier needs) Sometimes there are “self centered Jerks” who mistreats the checker or a very abusive preson who verbally abuse the checkers & box people for no reason at all & others who think that the store’s like a “Burger King” & thinks that “They can get it thier way” What I was reffering to is that the checker had a bad experience with Mrs. Otterloop & her kids a long time ago & she now gives her the “ice cold stare” & “grunts” at Mrs. Otterloop instead of greeting in a positive & cheerful manner. Believe me if a checker treats me in a unpleasent like manner i would go up to management & issue a complant with that cashier & if that person was having a bad day then I would understand. I should know I was on “the frontlines” for many years & I”m “behind the scenes” as a General Merchandise clerk & I know how some of the customers are some I known for years & some that (& I’ll admit it) freak the “You-Know-What” out of me!
