    I know mistletoe is poisonous to humans, so I don’t think birds would want it either (I never let mine near Poinsettias either).

    The mistletoe is hung below you, not above you, so the laws regarding expected behavior underneath the mistletoe do not apply. You’ll have to improvise. Let’s see, bird sitting on a branch above a person’s head… What could a bird do in lieu of a kiss? What could a bird doo?…
