How do you react when you're cornered? Talk your way out, prepare for battle or insist you're just fine and dandy? Mike Baldwin's "Cornered" characters reflect the full spectrum of these reactions - all the while doing their very best to be taken seriously. From dark to light to blindingly brilliant, the results delight, amuse or even confuse - but it's well worth the risk. No one's ever lost an eye reading "Cornered" (aside from one reader who got WAAAY too close - you know who you are). In the end it's discovering the inconvenient truth of being "Cornered" that sets you free.

All dogs go to heaven, but only when it’s their time.
Apikoros, I like the way it was put in an old “Twilight Zone” episode about the mountainman who dies (with his dog) and is told by “St. Peter” at the gate that his dog can’t come in with him:
“Well, I figure anyplace that don’t allow dogs probably wouldn’t be too happy to let ME in, either.”

Ha, I was thinking of that exactly! And of course, being the Twilight Zone, things were not as they first seemed, were they?

Of course. From the same episode:
“A man will walk right into Hell with his eyes wide open, but it ain’t so easy to fool a dog.”
