KingKat you are right! ‘Realizes’ was my first choice, but I did a quick check on the “Free Dictionary” and could not find that entry (it is there now! so I missed it last night!)… so I thought maybe the ‘rule’ didn’t apply to the verb “realize”…as you suspect English comp was never my forte (thinking of taking online refresher course) so I can’t complain much about the comic….

Do not set your spellcheck to automatically substitute the closest option. On our school paper “eth [the] opinions expressed…” became “Ethiopians expressed…” We caught it after publication.

I think that the cartoonist can neither spell nor adhere to good grammar. This, unfortunately, is but another mistake in a long line of mistakes for this strip.
