If Ptolemy had TV in his day, then the names of the constellations could well have been Flipper, Elsa, Tonto, K. Kardashian, the cute bears on the toilet paper commercial.
Can’t blame the kids. As Carl Sagan observed in Cosmos: “If the constellations had been named in the 20th Century, I suppose we’d put there refrigerators and bicycles, rock stars, maybe even mushroom clouds.”
A bit out of date – he should have had an iPad with the Astrology App, then instead of seeing characters in the sky they could have just stared at the iPad.
Close to 3 or 4 years ago news reported we see the space station close to earth in space at a certain time and be very fast. The news was very right I went outside wondering which direction be coming. Very awesome seeing space shuttle leave the space station in space. 2nd night we seen the space station at little further back.
Back when I was a young guy (in the 1970s), I was under the influence of a psychedelic substance, and I looked up in the sky and thought I saw a swastika-shaped cloud! Really…

Funny thing, depending on where they live, you can’t see that constellation in the sky (it’s in the Southern Hemisphere of the sky).
