Val: HOLLY?! Time to GO!
Holly: ONE more minute!
Val: Is that REAL time, or HOLLY time?
Holly: I just need to pick an outfit!
Alix: I'm going back in for a second breakfast.
Val: Just wear something BLUE!!
the Blues – always faithful, always work – wonder why women (of all ages) take so much time for such a simple decision. Given the maxim “When in doubt – go blue” – applies for clothes and …. life :)
Our son’s school had a uniform. There was a tie that the boys could wear if they wanted — none of ’em did. The girls, however, quickly adopted the tie, very loosely tied, with the white blouse. The school finally changed the rules so that it was an allowed combination. I think they did it because it was just adorable on them.
My daughter sees that the older girls have picked out their clothes the night before. She has me make sure that the six-year old sleeps in her clothes, to forestall a morning battle. I also line up her shoes to match, and socks. We trust the boy not to pull together something too weird. I resigned from getting up early to get them ready in the morning. . . .
I remember driving from my full time job to my night part time job on he GSP in NJ and I could see the smoke rising from the fallen towers – God Bless Alll we lost and the people who helped clean up everything up. I am glad that we have come back to consider what to wear a problem. We have survived!
Our kids went to a Christian school where they were uniforms. The boys looked great with shirts and ties but the girls had to wear jumpers over there blouses. They were brown&white one day and blue pants and blue shirts the next.

What are you, Alix: a hobbit? (Anyone remember that “Lord of the Rings” scene to which I am referring?)

School uniforms? Maybe not a bad idea!

I wish I could find blue clothing. Everything is either weird colors or black.

Uniforms! That way you know what you’ll be wearing every day and you can concentrate on more important things, like getting an education.

One of the downsides of motherhood, the stubborn teenage girl.

Girls get away with whatever they can, even with uniforms. They’ll wear the skirt too short, pile on makeup, and/or use jewellery to stand out.
