I was hoping we’d get another peek of that spectacular woman we saw yesterday. Guess we’ll have to be content with the pic of Honeymoon’s mom. Don’t mean to sound all glum, because today’s strip is great. But after waiting patiently for more than a month, I wanted me some more Moon Maid!!
What a beautiful tribute in today’s Hall of Fame to the first responders (police, fire, etc) who died trying to save others in the World Trade Center. Thanks for remembering.
Phishface’s ultimate scheme is either to corner the sushi market and drive up prices, or accelerate global warming by injecting massive amounts of methane into the atmosphere…
One of the alternative identities for the mystery vigilante that I had considered was that it was a suddenly-matured (moon genetics, you know) Honeymoon. Today’s expressive strip rules that out. But I am still reluctant to believe that what Junior (Dad) and Dick (Pop Pop) told Honeymoon about that fateful day was incorrect. Moon Maid, I believe, is dead and will remain dead. But someone is doing a fine job of looking like a living Moon Maid!
GREAT storyline here. Still, this is one time the Tracy Hall of Fame overshadows it. Capt. Mazza certainly belongs in MANY HOF’s. Terrific choice Mr. Doherty.
All the old villains are accounted for; some of the forgotten characters have returned. Patton is again Chief of Police. Lt. Teevo is sleeping with the fishes.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it appears that the nightmare/Locher era of DT is finally completely over.
No reference, but there was a Liza Mazza in the animated series Gargoyles (1994-1997), but that was seven years before the events of 9/11. Also: Tuesday is the actual day the event happen. Nice reference to the DC Comics character Aquaman. These days he’s drawn (and animated) with a beard. I say he looks younger without it. What do you think?
poor honeymoon, i feel bad for her. FINALLY someone in the tracy family sees a news report… whta will junior and tracy’s reaction be? not to mention tess, sparkle, lizz and everyone ELSE too! this is shaping up damn good!
Re: My comment to morrow, above. I guess I didn’t do that quite right. The first two lines are a copy and paste from morrow’s comment. My answer starts on the third line.
How (and why) did you flop the art work, but not Joe and Mike’s names? Back in the day, when I was working in the printing field, that would happen if someone accidentally flopped a negative during the plate making process. But, everything would flop. – words would be mirrored too. If you manipulated the image on purpose, I wonder why?
Apologies to anyone who was offended about what I said about the Locher era. I only found Dick Tracy here a couple of years ago, and the action was slow and the characters poorly developed. I remember the month Tracy spent in a haunted house, etc. I remember Chief Patton getting a dont-let-the-door-hit-you-on-the-way-out dismissal, and the introduction of a meaningless Lt. Teevo.
If Locher saved the strip, I’m thankful to him. But what I saw really was painful for a guy who, as a kid, had been raised on Chet Gould’s classic.

Great Sunday. So much going on! I wonder if the mysterious woman storyline will actually intersect with the phishing one.

Honeymoon was there when her mother died. I guess she was either too young to remember or blacked out the memory.

Great to see Moon Maid again, if only as a screen shot on Honeymoon’s PC.

Great rendition of Moon Maids full face by Staton. This creative team is by far the best since Collins and Fletcher!
I hope the first years work gets put into a book form somewhere along the line.
Any plans on this?

This is interesting; the right of the picture is flopped, yet the front is fine. Weird! :)
but thanks for the repost. Pretty superheros are always appreciated

Fine tribute to the 9/11 captain, gentlemen. I printed out last year’s 9/11 strip on high quality paper, and now it’s framed. Good work.
