Maybe they can use a local anesthesia. Then, she can call and text during the operation.

Great Democratic Convention! But now we face endless commercials and mudslinging. Looking forward to celebrating President Obama’s win on November 6th.

Warren’s speech was good. Clinton’s speech was excellent and illuminating. President Obama’s speech knocked it out of the ballpark ! I don’t know who his speechwriters were but they sure deserve a raise ! From a strictly oratorical perspective, it was brilliant.

I remember where I was when Kennedy was shot. (Boston) & I remember where I was when they stopped the tally & gave Bush Jr. the presidency(Union Square, NY).

I know where I was when JFK was shot. I was at the Steinbeck Theater on Cannery Row watching Pikova Dama, Queen of Spades". My Russian instructors were very sad and also hopeful that it wasn’t a Russian assassin. At Univ. of Mass when MLK assassinated, actually at home, my Mother die the next day of cancer, and also at home when Bobby was too. Pretty much gave up at that time.

I’m not an orthopaedic surgeon, nor do I play one on TV, but I am married to one and I know she will really have to take some serious time off… She may not know it now but she will. Maybe Alex can take care of her… Too bad she couldn’t have scheduled after the election. Alex will have to step up to help her grandma. Time to pass the torch to a new generation. Hang in there Joanie, it will be worth it in the end!

Shouldn’t Rick have really grey hair by now instead of just a tinge? Joanie looks like she’s been drug under a truck and is old enough to be his mom. But I guess that’s what direct involvement in American politics does to you.

Well, the convention is over, as Joanie noted. My favorite protester sign from both of the conventions was one from the GOP convention. It said, Don’t probe me bro! Yes, the GOP is for small government, except when it comes to stuff that goes on in your bedroom…

I disagree. I think the odds are against Obama. Romney has the money advantage, and the economy, voter suppression laws, super Pacs all work against Obama.

I also don’t get why the women in this strip age as you would expect (well, more or less), but the men barely go grey, never go bald, never get paunchy…. Very unrealistic, Mr Trudeau! Let go of the Peter Pan complex! There is no shame in aging.

It reminds me of a local volunteer who was manning the phone banks despite being on oxygen until the week that she died.

In a way, I envy the ability to muster such enthusiasm, but, as a lawyer, I’m too close to the sausage being made. Or, perhaps cynicism is just a good cover for laziness.

Though, in all honesty, I just like riding my bike more than politics.

Since it’s obvious to all of us that you don’t just jump up the day after a hip replacement, why not just put it off until Nov 7th and devote Oct 12th to the campaign?

Has anyone noticed ever since Obama ramped up the War on Marijuana that we haven’t heard anything from Zonker? It’s almost as if Trudeau is afraid to give what is arguably Doonesbury’s most beloved character a voice without appearing to be critical of Obama and brand credibility suffers because of it. Trudeau’s getting too old for this, he needs to out source Zonker’s character development to a legit head just to maintain brand cred.

I was talking to the Vapor Room delivery person yesterday and they said that the DOJ never contacted them, instead Melinda Haag threatened their 80 year old landlady with property seizure. She held out for as long as she could, but Haag is serious and has followed through on her threats to others. They said they hope Haag does such a good job that Obama promotes her to another position. They say that in 2014 they plan to relocate to Mars, and I’m not far behind, two more years of Reefer Madness and I’m outta here.

After the Jim Crowe story arcs of the past couple of weeks I’d Iike to remind people that marijuana prohibition is rooted in Jim Crowe racism that was prompted by Harry Anslinger, head of the BNDD (now DEA) in 1937. Has anyone thought about how those laws disenfranchise people? For me it was for 13 years, all for less than $50 worth of pot and $10 worth of acid. One day pot will be legal and Obama is on the wrong side of history, when he has the option not to be.

I so love and appreciate it when the Loyal Opposition is as ready as you are to treat your fellow Americans respectfully and demonstrate your willingness to find middle ground and enter into adult and productive dialog in order to move this country forward, solving problems and creating cohesiveness where decisiveness would otherwise hamper or destroy our democracy.

Boopsie has aged somewhat and BD has definitely aged. Several early-on characters didn’t just age, they died. Mark has definitely aged, unless he bleaches his hair. Mike has aged and Kim isn’t the little sprite she once was. But Joanie is a shocker—her husband looks like he’s a whole generation younger.
