Too true. However, the new species that emerge from the wastelands of the wreckage is still a win for her.

Wild onions are very useful. I have them in my yard every year. When the Byzantine tops first appear, pull them up. Cut off the green part and the roots under running water. Freeze. You can chop them for cooking while still frozen and no tears. Second use: it delays mowing by a month – “I don’t have my onion crop in yet.” (In Texas, it is a felony to damage a crop.)
