Lucy: Wait... you're doing schoolwork on your own? Danae; Yeah... I figured I'd make the most out of the expected "What I Did Over Summer Vacation" report. Lucy: I seem to recall the mud puddle incident as being a lot less dramatic. Danae: Oh, like it's my fault fact-checking is extinct int he media! Hello-o-o best-selling memoir...

Fact checking is only extinct in Republican media. They don’t care about the facts.

Dems don’t worry about facts. especially if it ruins their agenda.

I don’t think they have any issues with blatant lying either! They don’t seem to mind… Um, what was I lying about again?…

OK, Wiley didn’t know when he wrote this that “We’re not going to be dictated to by fact checkers” line would happen..So I’m not going to participate in any politics..
But doesn’t KERPOOLSH denote how deep the water is? As apposed to KERSPLASH? I would have thought KERLPOOSH would denote deeper water than they are in……Hey, what can I say…I live near Lake Michigan and I chuck rocks a lot….BTW Do you know where to find the best skipping stones? About a hundred feet offshore………For a while, I had my niece and nephews convinced that the reason there were so many good skipping stones on the beach was because the Indians found them out in the lake, and had fun trying to skip them all the way to the beach…therefore the ones on the beach were the best ones…

Great strip. The political comments, not so much.

We’ve all got our political views, but airing them here doesn’t accomplish anything and makes the strips less enjoyable.

As I recall, all of the “what I did over summer vacation” reports could have benefited from significant embellishment. Maybe that’s why I don’t recall them. Also we wouldn’t want to stifle Danae’s creativity.

The only people opposed to fact-checking are the ones who already know they’re lying. That’s why opposition to fact-checking is universal. “A plague on both your houses!”

“Fact checking is extinct in media.” Best (and most honest) line ever.

“What I Did on My Holidays”.Got up about 11 o’clock; had breakfast. Then my friend called for me and we went into town. Hung aroung laughing at people and getting told to move on. Went shoplifting for some CDs and games but didn’t want them so I sold them to some kids on the corner. Went home and had burgers and beans then went to my room to go on Bookface and brag about something I hadn’t done. Fell asleep.

Most of the time the chuckle factor of the cartoon is completely obliterated because commenters turn it into completely missing the point with arguing about religion or politics…..usually politics.

Fiction checking is more important and easier for the media…they don’t have to look anything up, just report what they thought they heard and makes headlines. (Not gonna ding any political stuff on this one; it’s begging for it, no matter how much Wiley obfuscates. He’s smart enough to know that.) BTW: my summer report somehow always included aliens, UFO’s, dinosaurs, yeti’s, and cyclopses (or, is the plural for cyclops more appropriately “cyclops-eye”? [pun intended]).

One child’s flight of imagination becomes an adults reality. In the 3rd grade, I wrote and read in class, an essay in which I said that my family were going to move to Texass (sic) and buy a ranch where I would have my own horse (etc. etc.).That night the phone rang off the hook with people inquiring about the price of our house – including two real estate agents looking for a listing.Needless to say, my parents were NOT amused. They fended off inquiries for several days, as I recall.

I miss the old days when reality and fantasy didn’t overlap.True is true, false is false, plain and simple.Too many people seem content to let others smear them together, like a kid with fingerpaints.

I don’t believe it’s a condemnation of either political party, but of the news media in general.
