sighs ….and this makes me wonder why my mother is a Republican. However, she’s in her mid-70s and doesn’t have to worry about that anymore; now she has to worry about the cancer popping back up in her body. (She has the same rare cancer that did in Steve Jobs. Only difference is that she went to the doctors right away.)

While I know it isn’t Mr.Pett’s intended meaning…That is the type of ‘Welcome to Florida’ that I would like to extend to the GOP.(Come back Isaac! You missed them!)

No one can deny how strongly people feel about this. (Or if you’re cynical, about how strongly people want to control other people.).What I don’t get is how this becomes such a front-and-center issue at a time when it has long been proven to be a political dead-end. Again, the GOP is picking up votes from people who would only vote for them anyway.

Howie, what part of the cartoon is untrue? Just that you don’t like it because it tells the truth about the Republican platform? It’s designed to bring back back-alley abortion. Except if you’re rich, of course. Romney proved that the rich will always get to cheat income taxes, cheat estate taxes, cheat tax-free retirement accounts, cheat business expenses, and of course they’ll always be able to send their daughters to Mexico, Canada, or Switzerland to get nice, quiet abortions. It’s only the poor and the middle class that suffer from conservative big-government meddling in their lives.

What you say may come true, but not for the reasons you espouse. Those far “right” countries of South America are not Constitutional Republics. If it happens here, it will be because the non-taxpayers will continue to elect the liberal Democrats who continue to provide them with entitlements they have come to depend on. It will eventually reach the point where the wealthy cannot support their gimmee habit no matter how much they are taxed.

Some people act in such a way as to bring “names” down on themselves. Todd Akin may never live what he said down. I rather hope not. I say that not against him personally, but because I don’t like or agree with the republican view of what should be. I don’t want to pay for the rich to get a12% more tax cut. I don’t think my kids should have to come up with another $2,000. a year to pay for that tax cut. If that tax cut goes forward un-paid for, it will make the debt much worse.

Over half of the budget will be cuts to social safety nets. This is bad because most middle class people are one major catastrophy away from poverty, not near as likely to move up.

Upward mobility was a thing of the past, back when bosses gave employees regular raises. way back in the 50’s and 60’s. I’m pretty sure that most people don[‘t want to make poverty worse, to have people forced out on the streets, for kids to be hungry because they don’t get a breakfast or lunch at school. Maybe no one gets a free lunch, but it shouldn’t apply to kids. I knew a kid who didn’t get enough food. It left him with stunted growth and bad teeth. I didn’t know him during that time, but shortly after. I think his case could make the most hard hearted want to just cry.everytime a family has to give up a child because they can’t ford to rise him that IS a tragedy.

It was not a gaff. It is his true feelings on rape and abortion issues. He should be a man and stand by what he believes in as should the GOP. They are loosing my vote. Fruity berry never had it. so I guess it does not matter to me who wins this thing. (to me)

Akin just voiced the view of the majority in the “current” Republican party, and it’s in their PLATFORM. He, just like Biden, merely expressed it bluntly, and the public recoiled. The difference though is that Biden’s “gaffes” usually reflect something that is TRUE!

‘Inaccurate and nasty. You must not have been paying attention when Romney called on Akin to withdraw. Not one GOPer supported him. Akin apologized.’-Akin apologized ONLY for his choice of words, ‘legitimate rape’. He said he meant ‘forcible rape. He did NOT apologize for his policy.-Republicans called on Akin to withdraw only because he will cost them votes by being so open about the issue. Their policy is identical to that of Akin. -Paul Ryan’s policy is identical to that of Akin.-Mike Huckabee supported him big time.-Willard, of course, never stated his policy,l only that he is ‘pro life’.-Maybe you can explain differences in their policies.

I LOVE it when “righties” declare the liberals “narrow-minded”, please note: We’re “broader-minded” than a trans-vaginal probe, and actually think women should be free to think, and act, for themselves, without a MAN telling them what to do, or not!
