allowing for inflation since 1927 Rushmore would cost $12 Million today. Not even enough to cover all the mandated government studies and regulations that would be needed to get a building permit.

Rushmore upkeep pays for itself, ie the inflated motel and eatery prices in the area. Been there in 1944, 1951, 1970, 1997 on way to Pacific NW.(Hitchcock fans: Sorry, no house on top of the mountain!)
