I’m happy to see Mikey has limits on what he will tolerate from the Right.

I’m certain that he was using the word legitimate rape to imply that there are some women who cry “rape,” when it was consentual the night before. i.e. “Give me an A in this class, or I bring rape charges on you.” The crazy thing about rape is that a man is guilty until proven innocent, and even if he’s found not guilty, his reputation is ruined forever. What he said was stupid, yes. No doubt about it. And while he was completely insensitive, if a woman is under durress during the act of conception, the female body does make it more difficult to conceive said child. When the act is consentual, those natural defenses aren’t up. What he should have said was “non-consentual sex,” because that would have been more accurate.

They really want to get rid of Akin, because his voting record is “Paul Ryan lite”. (who he co-authored bills with)

I think if we were allowed to hear the actual conversation, it would be; good work. We’ll publicly demand you drop out, but keep on, we don’t really mean it. This is perfect for creating confusion which leads to votes.

“Someone forcing himself on you against your will…”-When did Akin force himself on the Republicans? He co-wrote Ryan’s anti-abortion bill. He was ELECTED by Missouri Republicans. He only exposed what many Republicans believe, much like Trent Lott did when he said ‘We should have listened to Strom Thurmond’.-Akin is CORE Republican philosophy. Anti-abortion in all cases. Once the kid is born, s/he should go away.

It so sad, so sad to see how the US, formerly an example for most of the free people of the world, now going down in this terrible way. Bigots all over. I am happy my kids are european and growing up in our beloved “socialistic”, so be it. With our problems… We are somehow more simple, yet more human.
