I don’t understand how Joe hasn’t noticed that she’s not wearing it. Unless it is a very thin band and she wears her engagement ring with it, it should be obvious it’s not there.

She’s a nurse. Chances are she doesn’t wear it a lot of the time for hygienic reasons.

It goes on the LEFT hand, which doesn’t appear at all in panel# 2. It goes on the 3rd joint (or the first from the hand) which is hidden in both panels #1 and #3 by her hold on the wheel. Why do you think she isn’t wearing it? She would only move it to the right hand if Joe dies, hopefully not any time soon.
