[snicker] Cats have memories like elephants about that stuff, too.

Once they get back, she’ll pout in the carrier for at least half an hour before coming out…

Once one of my cats who had a vet appointment hid in such an unaccesible spot that I couldn’t get him out. I took my other cat to the appointment, and said, “I never thought I’d be paraphrasing Donald Rumsfeld, but sometimes you go to the vet with the cat you have instead of the cat you want.”My vet now makes house calls. Problem solved.

None of my cats ever pout in the carrier for even a second when they get home. Some of them however, do hold a grudge toward me for awhile.

Once they get in the exam room, the carrier becomes their home away from home and they don’t want to leave it, and can’t wait to get back in it!!

and then, of course, there is the cat that sits on the back of your head because it screams like it’s being killed horribly if you leave it in the carrier in the car while you drive. and is absolutely perfectly behaved the entire vet visit, as long as the carrier is nowhere in sight … true story. if i have a single cat to transport, harness and leash; if more than one, carrier and they fight on the way and coming back … and i still love them. of course, peekaboo’s friends are all kittens also, they have what we term kitten ADD … not nearly as serious as the frequently misdiagnosed real thing in humans. disappears when they mature … at say, nine or ten? LOL

My cat would not look at me for five days after I got her fixed 17 years ago. We are much better friends now.

Still remember when our cat was spayed and the tom downstairs would have nothing to do with her and even batted her away, to her surprise.

Peekaboo should have smelled a rat when he was given the sardines.

Several years ago I read about a cat who was spayed. She wouldn’t speak to anyone in the family for ages, but when the daughter who was in college came home, the cat treated her just fine, as she knew the college daughter had nothing to do with it.

The few times that we had to take my cat to the vet, we typical set up the cat carrier with the opening up in the air and my dad would put the cat in hind legs first before locking the door. My cat didn’t like that and the moment we got him home, he would zoom out of the carrier and hide somewhere for the new few hours.

I don’t recall our cat having so much of a problem with the vet. But it had odd reactions to driving in the car. If we were out in the daylight, it would curl up contentedly on the back seat of the minivan. The one time we took it somewhere at night (I have no recollection of the reason), it jumped up on my back and curled around my neck, latching its claws into my clothing (and my skin). I threw her off once or twice; she climbed back up. I had to drive with a live cat boa around my neck. We figure that she had no problems in the daylight as she could see things going by; but at night the only way she felt like her world wasn’t out of control was to be on me looking out the windshield where at least there were headlights.
