Yep, gonna try to get him to coach. So where are those missing kids living next door? Or are they in the “Land of the Thorp Kids?”

Gil, c’mon, talk the guy out of pursuing a career to coach for you. Pretty selfish even for you. Okay, who calls cookies biscuits? Maeve and her family are what…English? Irish? Got a rugby player coming to learn football?

Both women in panel three look alike. Come to think of it, most Milford residents tend to look alike. Smaller gene pool than the Royal Family.

Maeve and Seamus O’Connor are just about to sit down to tea. The peanut butter biscuits will go well with the baked beans on toast.

Kudos to you Gil fans who called it, Steve Boone, Assistant Ball Coach. I can hear the pre game speech before the first jayvee game, “I’d give an arm and a leg to be in your shoes young men!”

Did Steve take the position, or the bench?

Now the next prediction on the plot. Neighbor Maeve will be Steve Boone’s girl, since he’s too old for Molly.

Good God! The budget problems are so bad at Milford that poor Gil has to spend his entire summer sucking up to a one-armed depressed former player just to hit the guy up for an unpaid assistant coach position. What’s next, asking the ladies in the community to bring biscuits to the film sessions?

Yep, Gil. It’s much better to encourage Steve to volunteer as a coach instead of encouraging him to do something with his degree. Good mentoring there, not….

Biscuits? I thought she made cookies? Did Chip Visci steal all the cookies? Perhaps the new neighbor is blind. Kudos to all of those who predicted back in June or July that bearded, depressed Steve would be offered a job as an assistant coach. Kaz does not like this development.

why? Why would anyone with a degree which would enable them to pursue a meaningful career choose to be a volunteer assistant coach? What rational, sane person does that? And what school district these days would even allow such a thing?

On the other hand, maybe this is just something Steve is going to do until something better comes along (something like swabbing toilets for minimum wage, for instance).

Incidentally, is GT trying to compete with the one-armed band director in Funky Winkerbean? Yeah, there’s a smart move. That one’s pretty lame too.

No wonder Milford football sucks lately. Gil does not pay his assistants? And how selfish of Gil to try to get Steve to choose a volunteer assistant coaching position over a career in [insert unknown degree]!

That’s twice now Anita has given her first name and said she lives next door. She must think Maeve is dense. According to Wikipedia, Maeve is an Irish name meaning “she who intoxicates.”

Maeve, Mrs. Lark, Moon, Wildcat….the Milford watering holes have never seen this pace of business!

BTW, Kaz must be finishing his landscaping summer job by now….green side up!

Have Mop, do you get paid for your jobs on the floors, or are you also on the volunteer program?

there does seem to be some weird synchronicity with funky winkerbean. as I recall during the playdowns their star player came down with the flu too.
