well with the current egalitarian academic brainstorm of taking all the kid’s school supplies at the beginning of the year, strewing them all over the floor and having a grab-bag, it pays to get the cheapest supplies you can find.

Fountain pen ink perhaps?.I’m glad our district doesn’t do that. For the past 2 years, teachers have collected a supply fee at the end of the year. They then purchase the kids supples for the upcoming year. All I had to do was buy back to school clothes and send him.

One of my memory of shopping for school happened MANY years ago. I asked my dad for money for school supplies to get at the 5 and 10 store. He gave me a quarter. I gathered up a whole bunch of supplies and tried to pay with a quarter. I had to go get my dad to pay for it, but I only got a tablet, not the folding notebook. It made both of us a lot smarter.

Know Pasquale to be excited to buy new school supplies for a new school year, and you can be sure that Clem will be trying to hide.

Peekaboo should be sleeping on the blanket. If it were our cat, he’d be on the lumpy part of the banket – usually my ankles.

Although we never used ink pots in class, they did still have the holes in the desk for them when I attended K-8 school.

Being a lefty, I am glad they invented ball point pens with fast drying ink.

I don’t get it. When I was a kid I dreaded going back to school. What’s wrong with kids today?

Re: School supplies: In our Wisconsin school district, you pays your money and picks up your kid’s next-year school supplies on a predetermined date in June. There are four grandkids, and I just counted seven glue sticks on a shelf in the laundry room, and eight Elmer’s glue bottles. That’s not counting this year’s batch. (I know I’ve thrown out some played-out ones.) When the last kid is graduated, we’ll have amassed over 50 boxes of supplies, counting K-12. Oopsie – just spied a big Elmer’s glue on the computer desk!
