In panel three, she said Smith’s first name aloud. Then in panel four, she said how it was pronounced. Didn’t TNT hear her the first time she said it? Why would he think ‘Vee-lay’ sounded like ‘vile’?

She deliberately mispronounced his name in Panel 3, just to trick Rip into mispronouncing it so she could correct him.

Obviously.

In their world, they have to read each other’s speech balloons. They don’t actually hear what the other is saying.

Nah, it’s the same thing when English speakers nearly all pronounce “karaoke” as carry-oky, instead of how it is spelt.

They can atone by committing Harry Carey.

Maybe we’re reading too much into this. She pronounced it “Vile” because everyone does, and was not correcting Rip – merely explaining the odd name.

It’s along the lines of Asswipe vs. Assweepay.

When are they going to have their honeymoon? They went straight from the wedding to a hair-turn-white eposide, then recovered without explanation, and suddenly Cobra is an undercover agent.

A likely story! She’s guilty as sin.

I’m reminded of one of my favorite lines from CHARADE: “You can’t even be honest about being dishonest!” Love that Cobra! :-)
