Nice day isn’t it? Now at least we know what Verl does for a living. And how easily manipulated she is, but we already suspected that by her choice—or acceptance—of a boyfriend.
Actually, Mikie…I think we saw before that she worked in some sort of city or county office…Funny cos she’d fit right in with all the ladies at the county offices here.
They work until 5 o’clock? Around here they work until 4 o’clock, unless you have your job outside the main courthouse or with a court in another building. Some office functions stay open later, so they can get the paperwork done, or give the public more time to post bond or pay for tickets. Business must be slow if she can talk to her friend at the counter.

Yup…. makes them happy all day to think it’s almost time to leave….until it IS time to leave…but the clocknever gets there….
That next four hours till one of the brilliant employees remembers to check another clock….
THAT part of the day really drags.
