I believe that dogs don’t think their owners are another species, but part of their dog pack.

Back in 2001 I had a heart attack and spent a few weeks in hospital. When I got home all I got from my now ex wife was “you’re back then”. But the two dogs Sooty and Pickle were all over me with licks, barks and general bouncing off the wall. True love and loyalty from the pooches. Unforgettable.

When DH comes home from work, the cats all run to see him. Some of them may glance over their shoulder indifferently at him when he comes in the house, but they all run in there when they hear him pull into the driveway.

Yeah, but you get the same thing even if you just went out to get the mail.

Awww, very sweet! My cats don’t leave us (mostly me) alone when we get home after vacation. One especially will keep me up all night walking on me, purring, nudging me with her head. Reverses any rest that I may have gotten on vacation, but it’s sweet.

They don’t know if you are gone forever or what. Being in a kennel is hard on animals.

I think I’m just as bad as Farley. When I go away on vacation, I spend a significant part of my time looking forward to getting home to my pets.

Awwww! That’s precious! I had dogs that really missed my parents and i when we went anywhere. They were like Farley-hugs and kisses all around! :)

for some reason, all i can think of is Lucy from Peanuts complaining about dog germs.

Our dog is a much-loved member of our family and has never been left in a kennel a single day in her 10-year-old life. If she can’t go . . . then we won’t go!

Farley missed you a whole lot!!

I traveled with my pet as much as possible. And I got a cat-sitter to come to my home rather than board him.
