But a kidney stone is squeezing through a much narrower channel – through something about as wide as a drinking straw rather than something about as wide as a garden hose, And mothers are usually given strong pain killers from the outset, whereas kidney stones come on suddenly before you can take precautions.

What I want to know….who in their right mind would name their kid..Wilberforce?

The baby is bigger, but men don’t dilate! (And I know of a LOT of women with children that have said that for them a kidney stone was more painful than childbirth.)

Erroneous on two counts.There are urinary catheters that are 10mm in diameter. (30fr) They have an opening and passage big enough to pass a relatively large kidney stone. The human urethrae is quite flexible and expandable. The two stones I passed weren’t done that way. The first time I was given something that let me sleep through the process. The second time I was conscious but on pain killers and peed it out into a paint filter given to me so that it could be analyzed.I had at least a days warning for one and several hours warning for the second.Being male I’m not equipped to feel the pain of childbirth but passing a kidney stone, for me, was the most painful thing to happen to me not caused by an outside force.

I don’t remember much pain all four times giving birth. Discomfort, yes. I’ve heard K. stones can be excruciating. Also, look what we have with a baby! Beats everything.

Ahhh size of object must be compared to size of exit path. Think kidney stones are much harder to pass, than children.

At least you don’t have to raise a kidney stone.

My sister has had kidney stones, and the pain has been bad enough at times to make her physically ill.

if a baby had come out of the same location as a kidney stone I’d say she wins for sure.

My wife has had kidney stones twice. They’re the only times she’s ever had me call an ambulance for her.
