Meanwhile, back at the shootout, looks like Liz took one in the shoulder from Kadaver’s blade! Still can’t see much in all that smoke. Wow! This is GREAT!

I thought the fireworks were finished!

I don’t think Lizz will be one of the fatalities but I wonder if Lee’s bullets will take anyone down — surely not Abner.

Lizz has been pricked by Kadaver’s sword-cane in her left arm! I hope that blade wasn’t dipped in poison! Did Lee’s bullets have any effect (they would seem to have hit Kadaver at such short range, or at least one of the three; but he may be wearing a “bulletproof” vest as part of his special outfitting)? What next lurks in this sinister miasma?

lizz got stabbed, lee fired off a few rounds at kadaver who was a few feet away.. but was her aim thrown off by the smoke? apparently kadaver can see thru it all somehow, lets just hope lee’s aim is as good as kadavers “smoke vision”… or maybe she “ventilated” bb eyes since kadaver told him to stay close… all this and we STILL dont know the outcome of the littleface/mumbles shootout!!!! only HITCHCOCK wove this much suspense in his stories!

Who says “EEK!”?

There are three shots but only two blasts we can see and they are at different levels. More than one shooter?

… but where is the grassy knoll? ;•)

This strip gets better every day. WOW!!!

My money is on Lee Ebony’s ability with a “piece”. In Chicago, that’s a rite of passage.

I’m hoping that Kadaver is in a pile when the smoke clears. Lee has a chance to be my hero if he’s down. He is so kreepy.

The picture suggests that Kadaver’s body is recoiling from the impact of a bullet, again I hope so.

Maybe Lizz is saying “Eek” because “Ow” seemed kind of lame. My guesses: There IS poison on Abner’s sword. He is wearing some sort of body armor and eye lenses that allow him to see better in a smoke filled room. AND at least one of Lee’s bullets found a home.

There seems to actually be three blasts. The colorist missed that.

At first I thought the “EEK” was from the shadowy figure in the background but I realize it is probably Lizz’s reaction to being stabbed. I assume she is going to survive, though she does seem to be collapsing in the last panel.

Great action and poor Liz.

I’m hoping this is old school where Lizz appears to have succumbed to a death trap, but escapes by executing police acedemy training (or luck as in the case of Vera Aldid’s car)

….careful, “old school” had Tess’s dad and Moon Maid and Model Jones actually dying……actually, WHY kadaver would stab her in the shoulder instead of a vital area is rather interesting……perhaps he has a touch of chivalry in him…..anyways, while Liz recovers, maybe they can borrow ’ol Fritzie to sub for her….right, Sam?

sorry, me again……but I had to add, labeling that caped figure, hat and all, as “Abner Kadaver”……probably was not necessary, ha ha……when this story ends, it’s going to feel like coming down from a roller coaster high,, isn’t it?

Panda meanwhile uses double aught buck
