Maybe if Calvin reduced his sugar intake, he would be less wired.

Don’t see a sugar bowl on the table. Maybe Calvin is trying to cut down on calories. Remember the following strip from last July? Watterson drew it six years before today’s strip, so it’s fun to see how Calvin’s and Hobbes’s appearances have changed.Click here: Calvin and Hobbes (March 22, 1986)

Ah, a great part of childhood… mixing crazy stuff together to see if it tastes good. When I was young (er, I mean young*er*), my sister persuaded me that it would be good to mix sugar in my milk. Makes sense, right? It should taste like melted ice cream. Not…@ Hobbes – I responded to you over at Cathy, but I wanted to tell you here that I enjoy your witty comments here and I appreciate the fun stuff that you talk about. There are some who some on here to pick on others, and some who come on here to have fun. I sure appreciate the ones who just want to have fun. Thanks!

Calvin should eat the second bowl first, since it “is always the best”. Then there would be no significant desire to eat the first bowl since it’s not as good as the second bowl, and since by the third bowl Calvin usually feels sick, there’s no point in eating that one at all. Then Calvin would be only one-third as wired, and well, also.Uh-ho, it seems that I’m beginning to sound like Hobbes (the commenter) here.

Every now and then, I hear someone say that love and indifference are opposites, and I heard (read) it again yesterday on this forum. The following comment repeats my comment at the end of yesterday’s comments in hopes of resolving that issue, at least in some minds.Love and hate are antonyms to each other by definition. If love and indifference were opposites, then hate and indifference would be opposites as well.Since indifference doesn’t care (is not caring), the opposite of indifference is caring.“If I Didn’t Care”, I wouldn’t have written this comment!

Our local “Golden Corral” cafeteria put in a “chocolate fountain” a while back, with huge strawberries piled up alongside for dipping. Family dining at its most attractive to the kiddies, that!! Just try to get near the dessert line after school lets out on weekdays, or on any weekend.

Not only does our local “Golden Corral” have the chocolate fountain, they’ve also added cotton candy too! I’ll bet all that spun sugar stickiness is a lot of fun for the hard working servers there to clean up! [sarcasm, of course!!!]

Mmmmmmmmm! A nice big bowl of “Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs” topped with some chocolate milk sounds really good right now to fight off the mid-afternoon sugar-low sluggishness I’m currently feeling! While I confess to being a huge chocolate lover, even I would stay away from 3 bowls of it! Other than Calvin, who wants to spend the entire day sick like that?!?! ;-)

@Vonne Anton,Thank you for your comment. It’s true that unselfish is a characteristic of love, but it is not the definition. I think love is a composite of many positive traits including affection, compassion, kindness, mercy, forgiveness, etc. Love, in short, is having a person’s best interests at heart. Love has several aspects, but I’m referring to the godly one that describes the essential nature of God, Himself. The opposite of unselfish is selfish.

Hobbes (the commenter): I just now saw a previous comment you wrote me at another forum. Thanks so much for saying that! You’re a real gem too!!! You’re always so helpful whenever the Queen of “Computer-Stupid Land” needs a helping hand and I just wanted to let you know that I always appreciate it — and you! Keep posting because I enjoy each and every one of them! Hope you’re having a great day!!!

<< Vonne Anton said: "We all know who you say you are NOT….. but, who or what exactly ARE you? >>Hi Vonne AntonSome questions are so complex and so deeply profound that they have no simple answer. This is not one of them, but I just thought I’d mention that to try to change the subject. Here is a profound quote from T S Eliot:“In order to arrive at what you are not You must go through the way in which you are not.”It doesn’t really apply to my situation as a poster here, but perhaps you will find it helpful.(Don’t feel bad – it took me a long time just to figure out whether you were male or female.):>)

@mythreesons,Since apathy is a synonym for indifference, I respectfully disagree that it’s the opposite of love. It’s halfway between love and hate. It neither cares positively nor negatively.I’m glad you are over the failure of your first marriage, but I think the best way is with love and forgiveness even if there can be no reconciliation. By the way, do you think you will ever be indifferent or apathetic to the identity of Hobbes (the commenter)? :o)
