and some old retired couple will screw it up, towing their Kia behind their RV straddling the centre line. I do look forward to retiring and doing that very same thing.
I think that is Lombard street in San Francisco. I wish I had taken a picture of a sign in Miami that I think was installed upside down, arrow pointing down seemed to be indicating the way to HELL.
On Mulholland Drive: One of my daughters lived in a slightly-converted garage on Laurel Canyon Place, off M. Drive. Traffic was so gooney on the Drive, that once we got home, we lived off whatever was in the “house,” no matter what it was. No going out till time to hit L. A. again.Worst road: Scariest road I can remember was I-10, going through Houston. Didn’t know what was going on, even with dear husband to navigate. On Miami: The egg-beater part of I-95 was no-slouch, either.
Used to run Mulholland with other “enthusiasts” late, late at night great fun, but that has a long time ago. Things look different when driving a Lotus or Porsche. (Or my VW bus that had 4 X stock horsepower, and not quite stock suspension setup, and would blow the doors off a Porsche on a grade.)
Aristocrat trailers had a plaque on the back that said: “You’re following an Aristocrat”, and if you saw the plaque while driving a mountain road, you would be, for miles, and miles, and miles, because they would NEVER use turnouts!!
And, speaking of bad intersections, Chicago has it’s Spaghetti Bowl. Where the Dan Ryan, Eisenhower and Kennedy Expressways all collide.
Actually not so hard to navigate—if you know where you’re heading. But it is a bottleneck during rush hour.
.
Speaking of the Chicago Expressways, I’ve heard of Eisenhower and Kennedy, and even Stevenson—but who in the heck was Dan Ryan, the biggest of the four roads????
