C’mon – any grrl who has a skull lamp on her night table is not going to be afraid of something under her bed.Even if her horse says so.

A fantasy author wrote a book that had Night Mares and Day Mares in it, back in the 80s. His books were full of silly puns, and the series got sillier as it went along. Ah, well. Just getting nostalgic.

Evidently your parents gave you the gift all parents should, few do: realization that the planet’s your home, and there’s nothing there in the dark that wasn’t there in the light. And that you are capable and can get along without them…Also it helps to walk thru the valley knowing that you are the baddest there is…

For kids it’s monsters and boogie men hiding under the bed. For adults it’s spiders, creepy crawlies, and dust bunnies!Also, it’s the joy, just before dropping off to sleep of hearing the whine of a mosquito or buzz of a house fly.

At least Calvin knew there were monsters under the bed—but the drool, by the stupidity of their responses, and so on.
