Everything is politics to a knee jerk emotional crowd. Contraception is political, AGAIN. Equal rights for women are political, AGAIN. Feeding the poor is a political dispute, with the people who say this nation was founded on Christian values coming out against feeding the poor; AGAIN. Naturally, the party out of office is going to make gas prices a political issue. Conspiracy theories are another perpetual problem. With that, thought in mind I have an attractive political conspiracy theory. This is my political theory “The oil companies are raising the price of gasoline before the election to help defeat for Brock Obama”. Be sure to tell everyone.

    Aren’t righties funny?

They consistently quote Obama way out of context on the $5-Dollar-A-Gallon Gas remark…then scream bloody murder when Mitt Romney is quoted out of context with his, "I like to fire people’ remark.

When gas prices were this high in 2008, the Repubs insisted there was nothing the President could do about it…and now that there’s a Dem in the White House, it’s ALL the President’s fault.

But the most hilarious thing of all is…watching them scream, ’Yaaaaaahhhhh! Liberal media bias!" over the Secret Service scandal being front page news…even though that scandal clearly hurts the Obama White House.

LOL! Who needs cartoons when ya got these guys?.

and you need to notice that the price of gas is coming down.slowly, and probably not much further, but down.

    What actions? Be specific.

Are you talking about the Keystone Pipeline? That won’t lower the price of gasoline in this country, it’s being built for the purpose of exporting fuel, which will actually cause the price at the pump to go HIGHER.

I’ll never forget the time LibbyX2 dared any lib to engage him in a factual debate, “instead of name calling”. I took him up on his challange, backing up every argument I made with a link.

It took him all of two more posts to ditch the facts for a personal attack.

Tom you are amazing. You want some one to explain how they know something then fail to say how you know something central to your argument. How do you know the right said in 2008 that the president can’t control gas prices. Why would the right, Bush had a great record on gas prices. Second when Bush was in office gas prices were much lower except for a brief period when they shot up to $4.16. See:http://gasbuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspxThe president can’t do much when he stays out of the way. When he gets involved it goes higher. Take for instance no drilling on federal land or Keystone that he held up for three years before his veto this year or last. The next time you want to call somebody and idiot here, which you do everyday, remember most everyone here is smarter then you.

I noted last night on the news, BO blamed the high price of gas on the specuilators. But, wouldn’t he be trying to take the credit if it were going down?

Fortunately, I’m retired and most of my business is done within walking distance. However, for those who have long commutes – to min. wage jobs – it’s a bummer.

is potus reducing oil production on fed land not an influence on gas prices ? some have suggested the reason the northern part of pipeline was blocked was to increase shipping on bnsf which is owned by warren buffet

Kudos to the hockey fans. I like several of the teams in the playoffs – but the ones I like aren’t doing so well (except the Rangers). And I wouldn’t mind seeing the Albany Devils take on the Norfolk Admirals.

I’ve heard Mr. Obama called many things, but “Brock” is a new one to me. Thank-you for the clarification, and thanks for being able to disagree with him without feeling the need to demonize him. Now if only other posters on this site could learn to do the same…..

First of all, IT’S OUR OIL! The oil companies are allowed to drill for it to benefit all of us. Sure they can make a profit, but $34 BILLION dollars a quarter? Why not cut the price at the pump. Do you really want a corporation to have that much money and influence in our affairs. How much stock do you own in Exxon?

What happened under Bush can only be called a catastrophic meltdown of America’s economy. The s#*t didn’t hit the fan until he left office. Notice he’s not around much these days? Hiding under his rock no doubt in his (not your) gated community.

First and foremost, let me commend you on your civility. In recent years it seems that men like Barry Goldwater, Ev Dirksen, etc, whose views one could disagree with but still respect, have been replaced by individuals whose sole goal seems to be to obstruct anything proposed by the opposite party. As to your stand on reducing speculation on oil futures I would suggest that sometime, for the good of all, restrictions mst be placed on the ‘rights’ of some. The limitatations on interest that can be charged on loans being an example. (And yes, I am painfully aware of how easy it is to circumvent those laws.)With regard to the pipeline, if the oil was meant for the US why would it be necessary to pipe it completely across the country. It would be far easier to build a refinery on site or to transport the oil via pipeline to the Great Lakes or Pacific Coast. Additionally, the pipeline crates the risk of water and soil pollution. There are, I believe, better ways.

The US is exporting gasoline right NOW ( Google it )

Three of the six companies that have reserved most of the space on Keystone have refineries in a Foreign Trade Zone in Port Arthur, Texas, giving them a competitive edge on exporting fuel, and oil company executives have indicated they want to increase their presence in export markets

Trans-Canada refused to gaurantee that the oil would be used in the US

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VucRPHJtvGU

One of the top backers of the Keystone XL Pipeline, Valero recently detailed an export strategy to its investors.

There, now where are your links to back up YOUR claims?

On the other hand, I am not unhappy reading your posts, nor am I unhappy with you reading mine, or posting responses to them. It’s called a dialogue and if you’re afraid of that please feel free to absent yourself from these pages.
