All kidding aside, I heard Randi Rhodes ( of all people ) defending Ann Romney the other day, and saying that yes, Hilary Rosen was out of line. Even for someone of upper-crust status being a mom is tough job.
I’m glad to see that Danziger understands it. Rosen used a poor choice of words, yes. The point of her comments is simple: A woman who leads a privileged life (as Romney) can not be an authority on the plight of American women who have to take a job outside the household and ALSO rear their children. The candidate should not be using her as a “go-to” for understanding the problem.
Yeah, except history is on our side. The economy grows under Democrats and shrinks under Republiclans. People forget the economy is about money circulating and when it isn’t all bunched at the top more people can spend. Besides all the one percent didn’t go out and “earn” it from scratch; usually they inherit a fair amount (Koch brothers) and invest surplus. Get your elementary school GED.
Way to keep the class warfare going, Jeff. You might as well tell everyone how bad it is to strive to be rich and once you’re there you can belittle people.
“Michelle Obama is now available for political criticism.”So all the criticism directed at her before was…unacceptable? Like I said, CONservatives owe her an appology
Each of her servants have three kids locked up at home or living with their grandmother and doing a job that makes sure they won’t ever have a prayer of getting ahead.
She didn’t attack stay at home moms, she attacked ann romney because she correctly stated she never worked for a living. Did she use a poor choce of words? Yeah. But when you can hire people to take care of the house and kids, you’re not a stay at home mom. Ann romney is insulting stay at home moms by calling herself one.
As I have read through the various comments, it has become abundantly clear that most people just don’t understand the issue that Rosen was addressing. I guess you had to be there. The issue she addressed was the fact that Mitt Romney was using his wife as his authoritative source on the economic issues of the working American women. She is absolutely correct when she says (however poorly) that Ann Romney is no authority because it is impossible for her to identify with those women, having lived a life of luxury without worrying about where the money will come from to pay for food, clothing and shelter.Rosen herself had to make the choice between work and family for a period of time, so she can identify with those problems.

What’s wrong with you people? Doesn’t he have a right to buy the presidency? How many nannies “helped” her work?

Ka-ZINNNGGG!!! Time for Ann Romney to apologize to working moms.
convin9003 about 12 years ago
Pardon my ignorance, is she supposed to be someone in particular?

@motivemagus thanks for the info. You must have posted before I refreshed.

Right on the money. Ann Romney changed very few, if any, poopy diapers in her day as mommy.

Rich people don’t work, they let their money do the labor. That’s why they get to write the tax code that benefits them more than it benefits you.

Demonizing the wealthy….
Yeah, we sure trash George Soros and Warren Buffett don’t we?
Oops, no…my bad.
That’s what you and the rest of Tea-liban do.
When you’re not demonizing unions, liberals, women, people of color, and anyone ELSE who doesn’t have a shrine to Glenn Beck in their bedroom

This is Reaganomics in action: Money pours into the hands of the rich, and a tiny bit trickles through their fingers down to the poor.

She’s managing a staff of at least five, delegating authority, probably paying minimum wage. Call her a CEO.

Yep – he got it the old fashioned way – from his dad, and from squeezing it out of companies before driving them into bankruptcy. Good ol’ capitalism.
