    Earl scruggs was not just a banjo player, he was a national treasure. He lifted the banjo out of the context of being a ‘joke’ instrument and broadened it’s appeal and brought a new technique for playing it, and the steel.

    from what i understand he was a real gentlemen and a great american. One only had to look at the company he kept.

    88 years. he enrichened my life.

    it brought tears to my eyes to see the news. and this cartoon is a simple, elegant tribute to one of the best.

    Learned to play banjo using his materials, unfortunately, can’t really chord and play any more, neuropathy sucks, like losing Earl’s talents.
