If you want to drive a squirrel crazy, give them a Ritz cracker. On a bike ride we had a lunch stop at a park, and one of the riders threw a cracker to a squirrel. The squirrel kept turning it around for several minutes, looking for a corner to bite off first. I bet a Ritz cracker peanunt butter sandwhich would be even more interesting.

Monday mornings can be like that, too. But peanut butter tastes better.

We used to go “squirrel fishing” in college because we had so many fat, lazy squirrels on campus. You take a fishing rod with a small sinker on the line (no hook!) and tie a piece of cardboard to the end of the line covered in peanut butter. You cast it into the quad or courtyard, and get the squirrels to chase it. The point was to see how close the squirrels would get to you for the peanut butter. Eventually, you ended up with squirrels in your lap.

It is easy – just act like a nut and they will be all over you. My son was an expert at it.

So is he a peanutbutter snob who’s really excited in the last panel, or is it stuck to the roof of his mouth?
