Enlargement of this small (click to enlarge) painting available from here. Aspects of the painting also discussed here, on page 10 here, and here (click a free lesson in painting technique in the Special Topics box below the VanMeer painting shown there). So far, 2 works by this artist have appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog.
Thanks, Mabrndt, There is a whole lot of information in there. I know many adults who enjoy making soap bubbles (it does take us back to more innocent times) I have usually just done it with my grandkids in recent times, although I’ve been to celebrations where bubble wands were passed to the crowd. Nice to learn about using the gold leaf that way, too.
First- really funny. Second- I want to see this painting up close in a museum just to see if the artist really painted what looks like mildew on all the foliage.
Now I remember you. Pontiffs P., you and I only smoked it LXII times. We went up on Olympus LXIII times but on the LXIII th time, Zeus would not loan us a lightning bolt so we could not light up.
Actually this is the second (the Elder wasn’t in the name there), of the 3 works, by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here. Here is the third work by him.

I can just hear Leonardo saying, “O.K. Mr. Flyingfish, can you launch yourself when you are not in water?”
