A few years ago I changed from an ISP that allowed through tons of spam to one that kept out almost all of it. But I admit I kinda miss those Nigerians with their imaginative sob-stories and their endearing optimism someone will fall for their scam.

It occurs to me that if you just happened to really BE a Nigerian prince who desperately needed to transfer some money out of the country, you’d have one hell of a time.

On the other hand, I just recently sent a gift audiobook to a friend who needed cheering up. When the unsolicited gift arrived it went straight into spam, and I had to make some discreet inquiries to see that he rescued it before it got thrown out with the trash!

I don’t need to go to some web site to see all the scams. they appear in my e-mail every day. Some are actually FUNNY. Others are so damnably stupid. They must really think Americans are stupid, and they may be right for some.

Funny. I never even THOUGHT about “biting” on one of those scams, and I’m 73.
