Farewell to a lady and one of the few reasonable Republicans.

As the Republicans continue to punish and drive away their own, let’s hope Americans realize that doing nothing while America spirals into insignificance, just to spite the president, is hardly responsible. Or patriotic.

Beautifully done on so many levels. Au revoir, Senator Snowe. Nice seeing someone stating the truth we all see — that discussion in Congress has descended to the schoolyard level, especially amongst the GOP.

Although a moderate, she was still a ‘player for the team’. She voted FOR the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, but then FILLIBUSTERED the appointment of Richard Cordray – only for partsian reasons. Good Riddence. We can hope for a progressive replacement.

By calling Snowe a “RINO”, folks are failing to understand that this country is run by compromise. It has to be run from the middle. Otherwise, you have the issues we have today, where only the wealthy are powerful, and the rest of the country suffers.

Yes, compromise, another way of saying, “We are going to slowly descend into the boiling water rather than just jump right in.” McCain would have been a slow boil (as Bush was), while Obama tried to go all in. The Wealthy have ALWAYS BEEN POWERFUL, Croc. It’s not an “American” thing.

She was a lady who you could oppose but still respect in the style of Barry Goldwater and Ev Dirksen, as opposed to these “destroy the Dems and if it hurts the country so what” asses we currently have.

Not likely. Senator Snowe will be replaced by a Democrat. The Republicans will select some right wing troglodite who will get trounced in the election. The new senator will count towards the Democrat head count.

Snow is like a number of Republicans, who have come to look upon the party as their brother: who turned out to be a rapist and bank robber.

Just a small question: You state that, “We need to set up a government based in 1750…like…Republicans do.”

In 1750 the Eastern Coast of North America, from what is now Main south to Georgia , was part of the British Colonial Empire. Are you suggesting that we revoke are Constitution and once again become a British Subject? Let us know.

You mean the Civil War era Democrats, who were pro-slavery? They’d have gotten along well with the modern GOP.

@onguard,she, like all the representatives are not supposed to represent their party. they are supposed to represent their constituents, second, and the united states, first.

the current attitude of there is no “I” in team, but there is a “ME” in america is one of the sad problems with the country today.
