Remember when righties and lefties complained when we put playing cards in the teeth of the dead? They ignored the fact we “buried” them in mass graves with bulldozers, that well, made a much bigger “mess” of the bodies than urinating on them. Today’s weapons also, like napalm, .50 caliber rounds, or “Hellfire” missiles, make a much bigger “mess”.
War IS MESSY! Propaganda does still more damage, because it messes up minds, not bodies. But as long as folks at home don’t have to suffer either mind OR body getting messed up, they’ll fall for the right wing “let’s put on a war” talk, no Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland song and dance necessary. (But righties DO seem to believe it’s just a play, with “passion”?)
And thanks to those low standards we had incidents of rape (not just the Afghans and Iraqis but of women in the armed forces as well), slayings of families for no reason, puppies being thrown off cliffs, and many other grotesque incidents involving our military. This has got to stop.
