2012 is off to a fast start in the Tracy universe! Cueball is sinister, the duo of Mike and Tracy is bizarrely punk-folk, and a satisfying blend of trouble is brewing….
Sir Robert Peel, we had to learn about him in the Academy. He was also the British Prime Minster twice, and died from injuries sustained from falling from his horse..The MORE YOU KNOW….
@Safeway674 I lived about 12 miles south of I-Falls and many miles west on Minot AFB when I was in high school. It was never cold there. Banana orchards and orange groves. NOT. This winter it has been below zero there but not even down to -10. And it’s going to be way above freezing the rest of this week. Ugh.
Happy New Year and a great Tracy year, my fellow Tracy fans!
Mike has given me permission to mention that the Mr. Crime story arc comes to an end about mid-July, although there will stories leading into it before it really gets underway. The Mr. Crime arc will end with a MAJOR fight sequence. Some villians will die, some go to prison and some escape to bedevil the MCS in the future. However, I don’t know who falls into which category and couldn’t say it if I did know. Mike has just finished that arc and started on the next story.
Next up after Mr. Crime will be the wife (widow?) of one of the classic Gould villians and later Team Tracy will wrap up a loose thread left dangling by Gould himself.
Yes, sir, looks to be another great year for all Tracy fans.
Happy New Year! I haven’t enjoyed Dick Tracy this much since I was a kid, reading it every Sunday in “The Commercial Appeal” in Memphis, Tennessee. This will be our first complete calendar year with the new team. Yay!
I remember that back in the ‘60s there actually was a 4 piece rock band led by someone claiming to be Spike Jones Jr., and they tried to do to rock songs what his father did to ’40s pop.It didn’t work out; you couldn’t tell the difference between their version and the rock song done straight.
Great stuff – just received my Collected Dick Tracy and finally read Sketch Paree & Spike, uh, Smith’s first appearance. I hope I have “Mr” Crime figured out, I’ve been waiting for her return. If not, I hope we see her again.

Happy New Year’s from “The Nation’s Icebox” – International Falls, MN – home town of Rocky & Bullwinkle plus Tammy Faye Bakker’s home tpwn also.
Not living up to our name this year.
I don’t think we have gone below 0 degrees this winter and hardly any snow. But, we are not complaining.
Heading across the river into Canada today to watch the annual “Polar Plunge” The Canadians cut a hole in the ice on Rainy Lake and people jump in!!!!
It is supposed to be around 21 degrees for the event.
But it is all done to raise money for charity & the community!!!!

I wonder how many readers don’t know the show so won’t pick up on the Gilligan’s Island reference.

I would have based Son of Spike on Weird Al Yankovick (who considers Spike Jones his idol), but otherwise good characterisation!

Mike Curtis revealed here that the lyrics in this strip are being sung to the tune of Lemon Tree. A recording can be found here:
https://www.youtube.Com/watch?v=9pwzuzYjmwY
Specifically, the lyrics are being sung to the chorus, the part that goes:
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat
