Trudeau must have “a thing” for Trump. His hair’s not (quite) that bad. And he’s not (quite) that fat. But he doesn’t exaggerate The Donald’s arrogance. That’s impossible. It’s so great it makes him go out on long limbs. Example: only two GOP candidates, apparently, will show up at HIS GREAT DEBATE: Newt “The Snoot” (frontrunner) and Jon Huntsman (around 2% in the polls).

I can’t avert my eyes from his hair either. It keeps following them. Like Trump, it’s always in your face.

Trump may be the only person to attend his debate (one too many?), in which case he’ll proclaim himself winner and self-appoint himself President – no need for a needless election, after all. Sheesh!

I’ve always wondered why Trump is just about the only public figure that Trudeau actually draws, rather than rendering as an offstage voice.

Only “The Donald” would go the extreme of copyrighting the phase “Trump Debate”. He will probably demand a usage payment of 1 cent per quote from those, especially the media, that want to use it. That will fatten up Newt’s presidential campaign war chest!

For Jon Stewart’s and Steven Colbert’s sake, I hope the debate is held.

The idea of turning Trump into a Dick Tracy type grotesque must be too much of a temptation of GT.

It’s not about the candidates but the moderator. I guess we all like to watch accidents & this debate is going to be a bruiser. How do you satirize someone who’s a big joke to begin with ?

It will be fun to watch these six strips unfold to see if what GBT sent out is still timely. The last thing he wants to be is out of sync. I wouldn’t bet against him, though; he is amazing in his dexterity.

The fact that every GOP candidate, except for Paul and Hutsman, has made a pilgrimage to Trump’s office speaks volumes about the quality of the Presidential wanna-bes.

TRUMP “DEBATE” STILL ON ALL CANDIDATES SAVE NEWT & SANTORUM OPT OUT (Reuters) – The Conservative publisher Newsmax said it IS GOING AHEAD with a planned December 27 Republican presidential “debate” moderated by Donald Trump and featuring candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, despite controversy generated by one of its star attractions. Christopher Ruddy, the founder and CEO of Newsmax, which operates both a conservative magazine and website, said that because ALL REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS OTHER THAN GINGRICH AND SANTORUM HAVE SAID THEY WON’T PARTICIPATE in the event, the format is expected to be a “conversation” between Trump and the two candidates rather than a full-blown debate.

Last night, while I was really sleepy, I mistakenly said Jon Huntsman had opted in. Thanks, Christopher Shea and 425, for correcting me (sans smartmouth).

Actually, I think this is a smart move for the following reasons: • Free “face the nation” time when TV expenses are going through the roof.

    • Gasbag Newt needs “quiet conversational” time to “explain” when he’s got the rep for raucous, shoot-from-the-hip, frankly asinine blowoffs. • Rick Santorum — at only 7% in Iowa polls, and a rep for being reich-wing dummkopf (dumb-head) — has nothing left to lose, so why not? • Despite Trudeau’s strip today “The Donald” Trump isn’t always a brash, blatant blowhard. Sometimes he can speak softly and even make sense. Also the RNC (Rep. Nat. Com.) will no doubt have him ferociously briefed beforehand and on a TIGHT leash, a CHOKE leash. Here’s his chance to try to “redeem” himself (and, indirectly, the GOP) in the eyes and ears of a lot of swing voters.
