That phone looks like it would use towers rather than a satellite, but even so the gag is great. For better technical veracity, maybe a tower could topple onto him.
The nursing home must have been exactly between two towers and the system couldn’t figure out which one to switch to. Odd that the problem was with two different carriers, with two different technologies. (AT&T is GSM, Verizon is CDMA).
