Calvin was also looking for meaning in a soulless abyss, and all he found was an imaginary friend…. Yikes.

Ziggy is a good start, but to really allow me to climb out of the abyss, Phiineas and Ferb are the only story in town.

Ziggy + For Better or For Worse + Garfield + The Buckets, would make a great anti-depressant.

“The gentleman does not appear to be amused.”

Well, he hasn’t got the BOOKS yet. (Actually, I’m reading a hint of a smile on his face, in the second panel. At the very least, he’s no grimmer than he is in the first panel, where he looks like Dick Cheney.)

This “Calvin grew up to be Frazz” nonsense needs to stop. Yeah, there’s an acknowledged inflence in the drawing style, but in no universe would Calvin have gotten Frazz-like when he aged, nor would Frazz have been Calvinesque as a child.

I dunno. A few years ago, the Comics Curmudgeon noted that Ziggy was taking an increasingly depressed (but ironically funny) tone….

For pure, light-hearted, beautifully drawn and sublimely silly comics with no attempt at social commentary, give me Broom Hilda.
