    There’s another reason to deny the Palestinian petition for membership; adding another seat could require reconfiguring the chairs to airliner density, which would lead inevitably to this kind of situation. Plus you would have translators scooting down emergency chutes shouting obscenities.What we need instead is national mergers. There’s only so much room in that General Assembly hall, after all.

    So, I do this thing called Model UN, which is where students come together and roleplay the UN. After we passed a resolution on child soldiers and SALW (small arms and light weapons) I got up to give a speech and said “Congratulations, fellow delegates. Thanks to our efforts, small arms will never again bear light weapons.”

    I had an translator who didn’t know i could read and write(vietnamise),and after 6mos. I got so POd that I Told him off in vietnamise. When he returned 6wks later things where much better,at least foe me.
