bank of america and aig pillaged that castle and found that there weren’t anything of value left. so, they bundled that crap mortgage, got moody’s to rate as aaa+, and sold it to iceland.

What President between George I and II removed the regulations on housing and banks? Good thing, we could have had a recession.

Note: Republican Congress (Under Bush the Lesser) REALLY did damage when it removed the REGULATORS reducing THEM to two guys in NY and five for the rest of the country. Because guys like Goldman Sachs said they could regulate themselves cause it was in their best interest. Then they did exactly what vwdual said they did, except they sold the stuff then Australia, Rupert’s lovely homeland. Plus they sold short and took their time selling off the fund so it was in their best interest to CRASH the economy. I guess MB was right about God getting back at folks.

PS: since the hurricane on the East hit North Carolina so hard, I wonder what Pat Robertson is blaming that on, since NC is the home of his ministry..

Incidentally, I do agree the debtors brought a lot on themselves, but many would have ridden it out if they still had the jobs that the economic crash took away. I would merely say that any union member or middle class person who voted GOP or Tea Pooher got what they deserved.

check your (recent) history, dolts. 2/3 of states were democrat run, congress was democrat, both sets of which run the regulatory commissions on state and federal levels. neither shrub had anything to do with it. this includes borrowing money from red china. whose fault was it, eh?

My “castle,” into which we put approx. $100,000 in major improvements since 2005, is for sale for $900.00 LESS than we paid for it then…We’re fortunate that we don’t have to sell, but still. BTW, when we bought the house, the realtor (major company) tried their darndest to get us into a 5-year ARM and I INSISTED a 30-year-fixed or nothing. They weren’t happy…

As long as We the People keep blaming others for their lot in life, or blame one party or the other for the problems, we are no better than the Politicians. Most of this country is somewhere in the middle if we only took a minute to look. Very few of us are hardliners to the left or right, but as long as the name calling continues, hackles will continue to be raised. Polite discord is what is needed and responsible solutions.

Gee, my respected Senator Dodd, took out three mortgages from Country Wide (one of the banks he was investigating as head of the banking commission) in Ct. D.C., and Ireland. These were called “Friends Of Angleo” and were at interest rates below market. His commission recommended reduced regulation of banking and housing. When caught, the Senate did a thorough investigation and slapped his wrist. The Democrats asked him not to run again. The bribery of this liberal alone was a major part in the collapse of the financial system. Bush? He hadn’t even announced intention to run.

When I sold my house of 30+ years and bought this one during beginning of the boom, I still just bought what I could nearly pay total cash for, so I’ll never be underwater no matter how the economy and my finances go ;-) People need to be independant and self sufficient.
