Unfortunately rather low. Not many people believe in a supreme being these days. Scraps of colored paper are worshiped as the be all end all.

@BlueRaven: No conservative worships Beck. We just don’t demonize him.

@ towerwarlock: From what I know of the Bible, real “cherubim” look nothing like fat little babies. . . In fact, I believe that was the class Lucifer belonged to before he fell from grace.

“If there was a God, would He really let the powerful destroy the powerless as they have been doing?”

__This is our ship to sail — the choice is ours. So, do we continue to allow the powerful to destroy the powerless?

I can understand why you’d think that, Saruman….you guys on the right treated Bush as the Messiah when HE was Prez, so you naturally think us libs do the same with Obama.

Ehhhh, WRONG! We constantly criticize Obama. ( Been done on this forum many times. )

On Afghanistan, on the debt ‘deal’, on the extension of the Bush tax cuts. on keeping Gitmo open, Obama’s been hearing plenty of thunder on the Left. We’ve never slavishly defended him, and made childish excuses for his mistakes the way the way the Right did for Dubya

jack75287 No, we aren’t entitled, and neither are you. You got paid for your military service. This extra freebie for you is just a good investment in the country, with a higher ROI than any corporation gets, unless they have a monopoly on something. You are going to pay much more in taxes than that education cost the rest of us, and we thank you. We would then like to make the same offer to anybody else.

See, that’s the (deliberate) confusion on the Right. When it’s the stock market or mortgage bundles, it’s always investment, even where there is nothing behind it, as in the Dot-Com and housing bubbles. However, when it’s the Government, it’s always spending, even when it benefits the rich even more than the poor.

As with education, where college education produces employees who don’t have to be trained by the company from scratch, and the public schools, which educate people both to be employees and customers.

If you prefer the attitude, “I got mine, and the Hell with you,” rather than “I was lucky, and I want to spread the luck around,” I have no idea how to help you.

kreole said, about 12 hours ago@Bailey“So you’re saying God isn’t in control.”

__No. Not at all. I’m saying that God, in his wisdom, gave us the gift of choice… and it’s entirely up to us how we use it. He sees all that we do and judges whether we’ve used our gift wisely, or for ill, and with his will in our hearts.

__We were created for his pleasure. He gave us choice to keep us interesting… and to allow us to love him of our own free will. “Love” that isn’t freely given is worthless.

grayhares01 said, about 5 hours ago@perceptor3“Very little of what the church presents actually occurred in the bible..There is no mention of hell being an eternal fire. Angels are described as looking nothing like wings and harps. God did not destroy Sodom because of their sinful ways..I could go on all day…”

__The Bible (as differentiated from your generic "the church) describes God as a “consuming fire” in three places: Hebrews, Daniel, and Deuteronomy. I don’t think there will ever be any necessity for “eternal flames”… ashes to ashes, and dust to dust seems much more likely.

I note that you didn’t touch on “The Rapture”… why was that?

    There’s a cop-out Kool-Aid answer if I ever heard one. . .

I see plenty of Democrats bowing at the altar of the almighty Dollar as well. The only difference between the parties is which special interest groups are lining the politicians’ pockets.
