As Will Rogers once said, “If there are no dogs in Heaven, then I want to go where they went.” Can’t believe it’s been 23 years since our Sheltie, Jenny, went to the great dog park in the sky.
__I hope the guy goes to the pound and finds another “old guy” to befriend. Adult dogs have a much harder time getting adopted, but they can be soooo much easier than a puppy — and they are so grateful.
Our dachshund was two years old when we adopted her from the shelter and she had been there SIX months. She had been mauled by a much larger dog and was scared of everyone and everything, especially children. Now she’s happy and well adjusted and blah, blah, blah. Sorry, I don’t know when to shut up about my dog . . . but she’s just a great little thing . . . oh, sorry again.
This strip makes me a bit sad. But, then I start to think of all the fun times I had with my dogs over the years and I’m shedding tears of happiness. I miss my doggie companions!
Here comes the GRINCH of animal world. I cannot for the life of me figure out dogs or their owners. I live in an area of uncontrolled barking – at all hours and, the dogs are “encouraged” to walk on peoples’ lawns to do their business. Like I said, it’s both the animals and their owners…Why have one if you don’t do what you’re supposed to do. I also can’t stand people who bring their dogs into supermarkets. Give me a break!
Agree with you Beviek. ADOPT a pet. The SPCA would love to find homes for all their dogs, cats, rabbits, birds… and I think they have much, much more. Here – the pound is the SPCA.
.@ Barbaratoo – There are health regulations about animals in grocery stores and restuarants. Either inform the store owner/manager or city health.
glkailsik: Food stamps can’t be used for pet food. Back in the glory days of Reagan, too many people were buying it for themselves. ReaganHood’s merry band found that interfering with their prime directive to steal from the poor to give to the rich, so they invented lies like that and instructed their lackey mass media never to refute them. Right now my car is full of day-old bread that will go to the local food bank tomorrow morning – and it is amazing how much otherwise thrown away bread will fit in a Prius with the back seats down!
My county has a population of 33,000; 10,000 are below the poverty line. 350 families depend on that source (one of at least four in the county) for bare survival. Keep your mouth shut until your stomach growls for at least three days straight. Then you may glimpse the truth.
