Yup. This is going to be a progression throughout the week. They have done this before (snapshots of a young couple on a park bench through time until they are grandparents… if I recall correctly).
you got me. look at the kid on the left, his right hand stretched out is actually a left hand. Look at the thumb. Maybe thats the gag. Hey, look I have 2 left hands.
@AssOfDoomRemember the series with the park benches? The first panel was meticulously analyzed in this forum, down to every pencil stroke, every color, every everything. But nobody – literally – thought of the first panel as the start of a series. Then, as the panels evolved, again nobody guessed the end with what I’d call a blockbuster gag.
The whole idea of a comic is that you try to figure out the joke. If he is going to do another series than unless he likes to annoy people he needs to write “to be continued” so I don’t waste my time. I think he thinks it’s clever to confuse people. You can confuse people by being really dumb too!
I’m with the developing through the week line of thought. I don’t see the backward hands, though. The red shorts kid’s left palm is facing him, not outward…I think.
I realize this will all be explained in time, but if I were to guess at a caption it would be, "Hey Conan (O’Brian as a child) wanna play a game of “grab a$$)”
A while back, there was a whole series about a tree. It started off with a couple of mothers, sitting on separate park benches, with a baby tree planted in the back, looking after their babies, which were snoozing in their baby buggies. Each day, the tree got bigger and what was going on around the tree changed. A few days later, the two mothers were chatting and their children, a boy and a girl, were old enough to be playing together. A couple of days later, the boy and girl had turned into teenagers and were holding hands on one of the park benches. Then the two teenagers got married – in the park – under the tree – which was now bigger – and the two mothers were still chatting away. As the tree got bigger and older, the two kids became middle-aged spouses, who were bringing their own children to the park to sit on the bench beneath the tree – which kept on getting bigger. Eventually, of course, the two kids had become senior citizens, who were bringing their grandchildren to the park to play. Then, of course, one of them passed away, with his funeral being conducted in the park while the grandchildren played around the base of the tree. Could be possible that this is going to turn into asimilar series. I guess we will just ned to wait until tomorrow to find out whether or not this will turn out to be another one of those “continuing stories.”
Lucky me — I got here so late I don’t have long to wonder……. it’ll be tomorrow any minute in Comic-land.@Dogsniff — LOL!! Um…. but …. to say it online — no. To mean it, or to ever meet me in person or to live within a bazillion miles — you’d be the only one. Which is why I was laughing at online “love.”

The kid looks like his palm is up. Lunch money extortion in action, maybe?
pschearer Premium Member over 12 years ago
Oh no! Not another one of their long, drawn-out, week-long sequences like the park-bench storyline last September!
I would have expected that the reactions back then would have convinced Rodd & Guy never to do that again.

I’m glad somebody said to come back tomorrow. I was going to delete my subscription. Just too impatient for my own good, I guess.

His right hand is correctly drawn. His palm is down but his fingers are splayed, that’s all.

They did a set of comics a little while ago. The punchline was on Friday. Deja Vu.

I like Brevity as it tends to be rather odd. This seems to be one of the wait and see strips. Is the backwards hand intentional?
Edwin Post Premium Member over 12 years ago
Wait — he has five fingers! That breaks the whole cartooning paradigm.
