Even Tower is wrong, while at the same time right. .The biggest line item in the US budget is Social Security. #2 is the military. #3 is welfare. If Obamacare is allowed to pass it will likely jump ahead of welfare to to #3…

Isn’t the source of money used to pay for the current military expenses (and those outsourced Hessians and privateers) coming from Social Security funds?

Man, are you misinformed. Foreign aid makes up less than 2% of the US budget (http://goo.gl/WCWPg), and welfare makes up less than 12% (http://goo.gl/EY4x6).

    .

In contrast, direct military spending is 24% and indirect military spending (VA hospitals, soldiers; pensions, and other costs that exist because of the military, e.g., interest on the debt due to past military spending) are about 15% (see my last URL).

    .

If you want to get rid of the deficit just by cutting spending, you have to go where the money is.

if everyone from the president down to the lowest government, stae, city official would take a 75 percent pay cut (since 99.9 percent are rich or have another job) we would be out of debt and have a surpluse. obamah has shown he is a dictatore not a person for the people cause if it isnot his way he vetos, or if he does not like a jole he has you….

Schnitzelfritz, you are an idiot. I work for the government and if I took a 75% cut in pay, then I would be taking home every month, $940. $720 of that would have to go for monthly rent. Doesn’t leave much. With the workload I have, thanks to personnel cuts, I wouldn’t bother with the job. You try living on that with a family and then tell me the results.

SS is not a budget item. It pays for itself, or should. SS can be sustained by removing the salary cap for collecting SS taxes (means testing would be a good idea, but not be required for sustainability).

Forest for the trees: the super-rich are hauling it all away at historic levels, benefiting no one but themselves, and the rest and their descendants are sinking fast.

Also the point of the cartoon is that repubs and demos are in the same bed, paid for by corprate donors.
