The newer crock pots cook faster but not that fast! I have two, an older smaller one and a newer larger one and I have to always remember that the older one cooks slower. But there’s no reason to wait to wash the dishes, after you get everything in the crock pot you wash the dishes, then after the meal all you have to wash is a couple plates, silverware and the pot itself.
I’ve got a recipe book that tells me, for example, a recipe takes about 6 hours to cook in the crockpot. I’ve discovered with the crockpots I have, it takes about less than 2 hours of that time frame. Oh just a hint for those who use hamburger in their crockpot recipes, after browning and draining it, I rinse the meat in hot water to take most of the grease off it before putting it in the crockpot. It lessens the greasy taste considerably. I also rinse the cut up potatoes before boiling them to reduce the amount of “scum”, for lack of a better word, that accumulates when they are boiled.
