Yesterday’s (back one) is good. This one makes us think of our potential, and sad for the small minds unable to recognize it. Every nickel spent on “war” becomes dollars NOT SPENT on human potential. The rewards of the shuttle program (and other “science” spending) have come “cheap” in actuality.
The space program has become a testament to “we could have ….”. I still remember visiting Kenady Space Center as a kid and seeing design sketches for new space shuttle and space station designs. All scapped largely due to constant budget cuts so congress can put up a illuision of a balanced budget and get reelected. All you have to do is look at the technologies developed for the Apollo program to get an idea for what we could have done.
