Mom: Petey, I thought about signing you up for Camp Aplomb. Petey: Camp what? Mom: Aplomb! I think it'd be good for you! It teaches social skills to kids who might be ill at ease or awkward in certain situations, like - Petey: RAGHRARGHGHAHG... Mom: Like being told about Camp Aplomb. Can you please stop chewing your arm off? Petey: ARHGHRGHGH...

Ahh…It’s been too long since we’ve seen Petey chew his arm off. Even when it’s only been a strip it’s been too long.

I think Petey would prefer not to go to camp at all.

Could she send him to both Comic Camp and Camp Aplomb? I like Andre and Loris, but what kind of kids would he meet at Camp Aplomb?

I have social anxiety, so I understand Petey’s dilemma

I was momentarily concerned that Petey can fit his entire arm in his mouth, then I remembered he is a nationally ranked picky eater, so I guess he’s bound to be a bit thin.

Thompson must know some folks with Asperger’s/Autism. Petey has a lot of those characteristics. Socially awkward, not able to deal with change or transitions very well, finds comfort in routine and obsesses about particular subjects.

I think Petey already goes to Camp Neurosis. The Head Counselor is named Ernesto.

picky eater -does that mean he tastes good?i remember doing this, but i am autistic, high functioning asperger-er :(social skills? not so much
Mary McNeil Premium Member almost 13 years ago
rabbitrose – don’t you think Petey might have Aspergers? (serious question -not trying to be smart or snotty about it. I taught for a long time in a middle school) Or is he not high functioning enough?
