Pig looks like he has really short hair today! Probably just the shadowing, though.

Cosmologist is to cosmetologist as made-up is to make-up, a cynical metaphysicist might allege….

Pig is into String Theory — a piece of string will keep him happy for hours. It can be a doll, a train, or a whole universe.

True, Sisyphos! And Nabuq — the arguments of which you speak remind me of the natural history museum where a friend worked. They had a fragment of dinosaur jaw, from which they were reconstructing the whole creature — and debating the relative sizes of its front and rear legs.

I think this is where I’d be repeatedly banging my head up against the wall.

I know the feeling. I’m a metrologist. A surprising number of people think that means I can tell them what the weather is going to do.

That’s Cosmologist with an ‘ET’ in it – he does makeup for aliens.

Rat has made a guest appearance in “The New Adventures of Queen Victoria”. A great cross-over.

Read “Cosmology Explained” at http://telescoper.wordpress.com/2008/09/29/cosmology-explained/ for a hilarious story on the confusion between cosmology and cosmetology.

A Cosmetologist? Really? Wow! Must tough to handle the weightlessness.

Pig made a pretty basic mistake. If he doesn’t correct himself, he may soon be “Hair today, gone tomorrow.” +++++ A similar problem for Math Modelers. Maybe they get cosmologists to do their make-up?

How many dead brain cells does Pig have? “Billions and billions” as Carl Sagan would say.

Wow! My favorite guy Brian Swimme has made it big time. He’s featured in my favorite comic strip.

And here I thought a cosmologist was someone who spends all their time reading “Cosmo.” If it’s someone who studies vast, empty spaces, then Brian should take inside Pig’s head.

Actually, the two words /are/ related. They both come from κοσμέω (kosmeo), a Greek word for “arrange”, “prepare”, “put in order”, etc..

Just don’t ask an entomologist what a word means or where it comes from—or an etymologist what sort of bug this little crawly thing is. . . .

@ Frank Moss, Jr: only the weather in the city, right? @ d.r.s.: I agree… the shading on each character is a little funky today. Maybe it’s supposed to look like peach fuzz for the “cosmetologist” punchline.
